apt-get/Aptitude install package without dependencies

Hi i want to install package without dependencies any idea i can install it ? like am trying to install phpmyadmin on my vps and i have mariadb running when am i do


apt-get install phpmyadmin

it install myql client and mysql server along it due to which mariadb stop working !

am running debian 8 jessie

There are two ways to do it , first one is little difficult and 2nd one is easy

Method 1 :

  • edit /var/lib/dpkg/status,
  • find the package with the broken dependencies
  • edit the Depends: line to stop the package complaining.

Method 2:


apt-get download phpmyadmin # apt-get download package_name

dpkg --force-all -i phpmyadmin_file_name.deb # dpkg --force-all -i <name of the .deb files you downloaded>
